Throughout 2017, Eurovision Union was dedicated in bringing you Weekly Playlists with new music from Eurovision and National Final stars, new and old, as well as stars we’d love to see at Eurovision one day! We made so many musical discoveries, and through 2018, we want to share with you which songs we’ve been loving! Some songs will come and go, and some will stick around – here are our Eurovision Union Chart Toppers!
- Tesla – Capo Plaza ft Sfera Ebbasta & DrefGold (↑1)
After falling a place last Chart Toppers, the Italian rap trio have managed to take the top spot once again with their number 1 hit song Tesla. It definitely falls into the ‘trendy’ rap category with some occasionally questionable lyrics, but the melody is enough to hook me in every single time.
2. Que Pasa – Omar Rudberg (↓1)
Another melodical success, and another trendy song but a different style to the previous song Tesla. This fits into the Latino style that hit the charts worldwide, and this is catchy enough that it deserves to be an international hit. It’s about time you release a follow up Omar!
3. Žiūrėk Ką Padarei – Donny Montell (NEW)
This song is new to our Chart Toppers, and new to be released in general, but I was quick to say that this could be one of my favourite new releases of 2018. Think the pop style of Donny Montell with a serious edge, and that’s what you get in this song. A real favourite.
4. One Last Time – Gromee feat. Jesper Jenset (NEW)
Another new addition, this is Gromee’s latest track featuring the vocalist Jesper Jenset. It could just be me, but it feels like I’m cheating on Lukas Meijer listening to this song, but it’s just too catchy to resist. It’s a classic electronic pop song big on repetition, but when it’s this catchy you don’t mind singing the chorus over and over!
5. Heaven on My Skin – Oscar Enestad (↑1)
Rounding out the top 5 this week is the second former FO&O member of this Chart Toppers post (but not the last). Another top quality Swedish pop number, this has a punchy verse and a catchy chorus, and that’s the formula for success.
6. Elevate – Blissful (↓3)
If you haven’t seen our latest feature, this was one of the songs I had picked as my very first entry into a fan contest. You can read the results of the contest in that post, but results aside, this is truly becoming an all-time favourite in the electronic pop category.
7. Perdonami – Salmo (↑3)
The second of my fan contest entries, this track has been getting a lot of airtime lately. Perhaps my fellow competitors didn’t feel the same about this punchy Italian rap number, but if I could have voted for myself, I certainly would have.
8. Dance You Off (Extended) – Benjamin Ingrosso (↑3)
What’s better than Dance You Off? The Dance You Off extended version of course! A few extra lines and a bit more instrumental extends this song, and I’m all for a bit of extra Ingrosso. His new song is about to drop, but we’ll have to wait and see if it can top this track!
9. Lungomare Latino – Gue Pequeno feat. Willy William (↓2)
Italiano, Siciliano, Colombiano, Latino! Nothing screams summer more than this song, and I would probably describe it as entry level rap, for the fact that it’s still a bit rap, but leans towards the pop side of things. What’s clear is that it’s a catchy number!
10. Secrets – Nathan Trent (↓6)
This song has been out there for a while now, but I’m still loving the uplifting beat and smooth vocals from Nathan. He has a unique pop style that I haven’t heard before, and he does it so well. It’s also a good car karaoke song!
11. Suburbia – Kilian & Jo feat. Erik Rapp (RETURN)
Some weeks I’m loving the acoustic version of this track, and some weeks the electronic original, and this week it’s been all aboard the party bus while listening to this track. It’s a strong track on its own, but with Erik Rapp’s vocals, it’s perfect.
12. Imprint – Felix Sandman (NEW)
It was always going to be hard for former FO&O member Felix Sandman to releases something on the back of his epic ballad Every Single Day, but he has managed to release this killer track. Imprint is much more upbeat, but still bittersweet – as he describes it himself.
13. Tifældigt – Basim (↑5)
The spotlight has been off Basim in recent weeks, as there have been too many good releases lately! Despite that, I’ll occasionally indulge in what I think is my favourite of the new Basim tracks, although my favourite seems to change a lot!
14. Wrong Turn – Blanche (↓9)
I’ve been a bit of a slack fan and haven’t yet listened to Blanche’s new track, but I’m still enjoying her post-Eurovision single. We had to wait a while for this one, but some of the best things come with time.
15. Comme Ci Comme Ça – Basim (↓2)
This track has been in our Chart Toppers since this series began at the start of the year, so it’s a pretty good run for Basim! Although I haven’t been listening to this one as much lately, it’s still a fantastic song that blends Middle Eastern sounds with the Danish language.
16. Aji Aji – Basim (↓2)
Also part of the Chart Toppers family since the beginning, there’s not much else to say about this one that I haven’t already said!
17. ThatFeeling – JOWST feat. Aleksander Walmann (↓8)
Nothing can beat that magical feeling, except for if we keep seeing collaborations between JOWST and Aleksander Walmann! The duo are perfect for each other, and this track just proves that!
18. Stay in Bed – Guy Sebastian (NEW)
If I could pick any song to be the theme song of my life, this would certainly be it. Lyrical images of breakfast in bed sounds like a dream come true, and the relaxed feel of this song is refreshing from Guy Sebastian.
19. My Baby – Anton Hagman (NEW)
Another relaxed tune, this one from Swedish artist Anton Hagman. This track was released as part of a two song EP last year, and is easily my favourite release from Anton, and he’s had some good ones!
20. Toy – Netta (RETURN)
Rounding out our Chart Toppers this time is this year’s Eurovision winner Netta, who is keeping up appearances upon her debut performance in America and her recent television ad appearance. I wasn’t the biggest fan of this song before the contest, but I’ve definitely warmed up to it as time goes by!
